41-yr-old man docked for allegedly fondling woman’s breast

Favour Isah, a 41-year-old man, has been dragged before an Abuja Upper Area Court sitting in the Federal Capital Territory, for allegedly fondling a woman’s breast and other parts of her body without her consent, Daily Trust reports.

According to the police prosecutor, A. O. Urom, Isah was arrested following a report made by the victim's guardian, Nma Love Onyechere, claiming that somebody had attempted to rape her housemaid.

Urom told the court that the accused was reported to have repeatedly made passes at the woman, which she had severally shunned, and on June 29, he waylaid the maid and fondled her breast and other sensitive parts of her body in an attempt to rape her.

“In an attempt to have carnal knowledge of the complainant, the accused overpowered her and dragged her into his room,” Urom said.

Urom who said the offence contravened Section 268 of the penal code, added that housemaid was rescued by her neighbours who were alerted by the her screams.

When the one-count charge was read to Isah, he pleaded not guilty and the Judge, Umar Yusuf Kagarko, granted him bail in the sum of N30,000 and a surety in like sum, while adjourning the case to September 14, 2016, for hearing.
